On DVD: The Interpreter

The Interpreter stars Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn in a political thriller directed by Sidney Pollack. It is hard to go wrong with that line up and the Interpreter more than lives up to expectations. Kidman plays a UN interpreter that over hears an assassination plot, she reports what she heard but not everyone believes her story. Sean Penn is the Secret Service Agent assigned to protect her. Penn and Kidman have great on screen chemistry and they both bring their characters to life. Both characters have demons of their own and the story weaves all of the personal tragedy and professional chaos into one big suspenseful and entertaining film.

With each film, Penn and Kidman further solidify themselves as two of the finest actors out there today. Although I don’t see another Oscar for either of them for “The Interpreter”, their performances were perfect.
